Government of Canada – The Queen Platinum Jubilee
Her Majesty the Queen was the longest reigning Sovereign who committed her life to duty and service, exemplarily fulfilling that, and the first to celebrate a platinum jubilee.
To commemorate the historic milestone of the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II accession to the Throne, the Government of Canada created the Platinum Jubilee pin awarded to community members who have shown commitment to making a difference in the community.
I had the honour and the opportunity to be recognized both by the City of Burlington and the City of Oakville and to win two times the Platinum Jubilee pin. I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity to not only have such a great chance to win twice but also to have a chance to serve this amazing community for nearly 20 years. These pins that I wear proudly will always give me the strength and the power to work tirelessly to keep my volunteer community growing with the aim of becoming an example for other newcomers to Canada.
